I remember when the game originally came out it was called F-19. They later redid it to capitalize on the unveiling of the F-117. Those were the days when Sims came with kayboard overlays so you kinda knew what you were doing!

That only goes to SL's not ALL call signs.

And to the LRR issue it truly inhibits our ability to operate. I not only back up Dark's decision but if it were my unit I would make the same call. I don't want to get into tactical discussions in an open forum but we have our reasons and they are quite sound.

Tonk the reason I say remove the clan identity is it's important.

When I joined CF I joined with clan mates, now we didn't come in as a clan we joined as individuals and they dropped after a couple battles and I stayed ( I know some of you are probably saying "damn!") I later had to fight with my clan to prove this was a tourney and not a clan and when I was given the choice I chose to stay in the tournament (luckily my clan leadership pulled their head out of their ass). My point is had I not been forced to strip all of that identity away and become a member of the tournament as me and not as a member of a clan I may not be writing this today.

No sigs, no tags. Now if they post a video for external view mentioning their clan, I'm not picky about that. It's about becoming a member of AW as you, not as part of another nation state if you will.

Taking TFR out of the equation I think the one thing we all see a need for is better new player relations.

Proposed changes:
1) Designate 2 people per army, per campaign to be recruit instructors (suggest diff time zones to ensure everyone is contacted). These should be NCO's not squad leaders, squad leaders need to worry about other things. Instructors will be responsible for ensuring every new player who is assigned to the army is contacted, welcomed and that there is a solid attempt at getting this recruit oriented to the army and the tournament.

2) New player guide (T0m) that gives people a better feel for how everything works, what they need to download, rank structures, who to contact for specific issues etc.

3) We need to remove all clan identity from players.

4) Set player expectations better on equipment and roles for their first campaign.

5) Not allow Rec. to become instant squad leaders unless there are no other options. Player groups should be appointed a vet SL and have a couple other vets infused with them to ensure a positive experience.

T0m I like the player guide, there should be a step by step set of instructions of what to do when. I also suggest we make people aware that their first campaign will most likely be spent as a private with a base kit while they learn the tourney and show skill with the other stuff in trainings, practices etc.

I think too many people come here with delusions of grandeur only to be let down when they realize they can't use the big boy toys in their first campaign.

I know how to use TFR, stop trying to say that people who don't like it don't know how to use it. I have "practiced with it" and frankly I think it's ok for a sim coop environment not a multiplayer tourney with 100 players. Basically saying that those that don't agree with you are too stupid to figure out a mod and therefore can't understand your point. Ya, let's see how far that argument gets you.

I learned how to use it, I gave it a fair shake and frankly I dislike it. Sorry if this makes you sad but it is what it is.

Yes an artificial solution to a problem that doesn't need to exist.

My whole point to this is that extra layer of "depth" is unnecessary and can be achieved with less software and headache.

Gex it was simple, you simply had a bind to each unit. Done.

So in our case recon would have inf units A-D, Armor and command for a total of 6 binds. this will take you 5 minutes to set up and then you are done.

and TBH that's what an officer's bind list or a HCO's bind list would look like as well. If you were line infantry it would be far simpler than that. So yes I am making the case that it is simpler than TFR, because TFR forces me to set my channel every time I get in game, I have to set my speaker stereo settings every time I log in and then I have to switch channel to channel talking to people instead of there being a simple ptt conversation back and forth. It is an added layer of complication that is unnecessary.

With TS I could lead a recon unit, snipe, eat a sandwich and drink a beer. There was nothing complicated about it. I had my binds, everyone in my recon units had their binds and we could talk to the world with ease. I even had an all army bind to pull the occasional Helo. See that right there is something we are missing, we cannot broadcast to all call signs anymore, instead we have to relay and relay and relay. Recon is neutered because we have the option of taking a radio or a backpack. The sniper and spotter cant use these as they are like a beacon to other soldiers and the rest of us are busy doing what recon does.

As a SL I want the ability to choose a slot, not have it chosen for me. Maybe my squad needs me to be medic, or maybe I like leading with a LMG. I shouldn't be pigeon holed due to a radio mod.

In the rest of your life if you could do the same thing with one less layer of complication you would do it. Why must we sit here running in circles like talking heads on a political show proving our points.

6 years people figured out TS and binds, now all of a sudden the world has gone daft and only TFR can save them.
